In this blog, we’d like to share insights from Anita Hayrapetian, an MVP awarded Solutions Engineer at Yodlee Interactive. 1. How’s a day in the life of a Solutions Engineer? As a Solutions Engineer, my days are filled with talking to developers and helping to provide technical solutions. I have over 10 years of software development experience; now I have the opportunity to apply my technical skills to engage with many different developers from early stage startups to larger technology companies and provide technical guidance. 2. What do you like most about your job? It has been a great experience to hear ideas from young entrepreneurs building innovative apps in financial services and watching them grow. They build solutions such as personal finance management, small business accounting, credit management, pay day lending, and even resolve divorce management. You can read some of our customer success stories that explain how developers leverage the Yodlee Interactive APIs and platform. My role involves supporting our sales team during the pre-sales cycle by guiding prospects through the technical integration process. It’s definitely inspiring to watch small companies with 2-3 developers grow their business and succeed. I’ve participated in and spoken at several exciting conferences and developer events such as PayPal Battlehack, Money20/20, FinDEVr, TechCrunch Disrupt Hackathon, and The Perfect Trip: DevCon. During Yodlee Interactive Incubator Tech Days, I also work closely with CTOs of startups to provide technical advice. It is truly fascinating to see the innovative solutions built on our API and connect with talented developers from around the world. 3. How do you contribute to customer success? In Solutions Engineering, I partner with our business development team and make sure that our APIs fulfill customer needs. I aim to make the experience of using our APIs as smooth as possible. As the bridge between sales and product/engineering and the voice of customers/developers, I am responsible for relaying feedback from customers to improve our product offerings. 4. What are you looking for in the Solutions Engineer role? Due to tremendous growth, we’re looking for a Solution Engineer that can leverage technical knowledge to bring creative solutions to help customers succeed. As a technical advisor to world-class developers and executives, this role requires a strong knowledge of APIs, good communication skills and confidence to handle developer challenges. Furthermore, experience with object-oriented programming is helpful when engaging with hard-core developers. This position may be ideal for a software engineer who wants to transition from a purely technical role to interact with customers and build experience in sales.
